OAK BROOK, IL - Sharpie challenged golf-gurus across the country to put their best putting skills forward during the 2005 Sharpie Mini Tour. Sharpie, well-known as the autograph pen and golf ball marker of choice today announced that David Hardesty is champion of the 2005 Sharpie Mini Tour, winning an ultimate round of golf with Sharpie's Chad Campbell in Hawaii.
Hardesty was one of four finalists to hit the links in the Sharpie Mini Tour Championship on Friday, October 28 at Disney's Eagle Pines & Osprey Ridge Golf Courses. Contestants had the opportunity to show off their skills as they worked their way through putting greens using a Sharpie Mini putter.
Finalists were determined by four Sharpie Mini Tour stops from earlier this year. The Tour kicked off at the EDS Byron Nelson Championship in Dallas and also visited high-profile PGA TOUR events throughout 2005 including the Booz Allen Classic in Potomac, Maryland, the Western Open in Lemont, Illinois and the Buick Championship in Cromwell, Connecticut.
At each of these four stops, the Sharpie Mini Tour invited fans to try and sink a "mini" putt to advance to the finals. The program supports the launch of the Sharpie Mini marker, a 12-color, "pint-sized" marker series with a clip - just right for professional to novice golfers.
"Sharpie Mini's have become a golf bag must-have for ball marking and autograph signing," said Campbell. "I look forward to meeting David and teeing off with him in Hawaii - with our Sharpie Mini's in hand!"
Other finalists who competed against Hardesty in the 2005 Sharpie Mini Tour putting challenge included Chris Neskie of Oxford, Pennsylvania; Zach Crouse of Lemont, Illinois and Mike Cuneo of North Haven, Connecticut.
Individuals who participated in the Sharpie Mini Tour also put their autograph on education. Sharpie "Autographs for Education" is a nationwide program to collect one million autographs from everyday people in exchange Sharpie will donate $1 million in school supplies and funds across the country. Signatures placed on giant autograph walls at each event will be counted toward the goal.
The Sharpie Mini Tour sweepstakes found at www.sharpie.com also offered an opportunity for the chance at a round of golf with Campbell in Hawaii. Both the Sharpie Mini Tour contest and sweepstakes grand prizes include a three-day, four-night stay in Hawaii and golf with Campbell.
